Position Description – Environmental Resource
Objective or Purpose:
To develop campers' self-esteem and confidence by planning age appropriate activities that are both within the campers' abilities and allow for creativity, individuality and challenge. And to ensure the campers have fun!
Qualifications:
- Some outdoor education experience
- Sufficient leadership experience to give instruction and maintain control of a group
Time Commitment:
- 12 day camp – 2 precamp training days and 10 camper days, including clean-up
- June weekend training
- Any in-city training, conducted by Camp Committee
Duties:
- Plans enviromental program to be utilized at both Kalalla sessions if required
- coordinates purchasing of supplies with committee member with consideration to budget requirements
- the Business Manager or an alternate will do any additional purchasing for supplies for the second camp session
- supervises the camp outdoor program including
- set up and organization of the out-trip at start of camp
- ensuring adequate supplies are available for each part of the planned program before camp begins
- daily maintenance of cleanliness
- part of the camp craft program could include fire building, cooking, knots etc.
- acts as a resource for campers/staff to help implement their ideas
- utilizes resources found in the environment
- cleans up out trip after first camp and does an inventory for supplies needed for second camp; relays this information to committee member
