Camp Program
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Our program, based on the CGIT purpose, offers girls the opportunity to develop new skills under positive and encouraging supervision.
We strive to help each girl increase their self-confidence and self-esteem through participation in planned activities in small group and all-camp programming.
|
|
- A philosophy of leadership which sees the designated counsellor as
enabler rather than teller, as resource person and as a guide;
- Groups small enough to foster person-to-person encounters and in-depth
relationships, with a camper-to-counsellor ratio of about 4 to 1;
- An open-ended approach to questions and issues;
- Full involvement of campers with counsellors in planning and decision
making;
- Recognition of the outdoors as not merely a setting, but as a basic
curriculum resource;
- A full spectrum of outdoor activities such as cook-outs, sleep-outs,
swimming, hiking, exploring - which provide opportunities for learning to trust
the elements in which campers find themselves.
They also develop self-confidence and trust in others, and provide a wide
variety of relationships with peers and counsellors where growth can take place
in the direction of Christian goals.

A day at Kalalla
A day at Kalalla is filled with laughter and excitement.
Throughout each day, campers learn more about themselves, each other, nature, and God.
The daily camp program includes Discovery Time, four Activity Blocks and Evening Program.
Discovery Time is a time for campers to explore the bible through games, activities and discussion.
Activity Blocks feature swimming, canoeing, kayaking, archery, arts and crafts, outdoor exploration and skill development.
Campers will enjoy morning Activity Blocks with their tent unit, while the afternoon Activity Blocks will be selected by campers based on their personal interest.
At the end of the day all campers gather together for the Evening Program.
With Campfires, theme nights, treasure hunts and more the Evening Program is often a camp highlight.
