Winter Blues and Camp Countdowns

Hi all,

It’s been a long time! I hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday season with their loved ones! I know I sure did.

Now that the tree is gone and the decorations are packed away, it’s sometimes hard to see an end to the cold, dark days of winter. Here in BC that means rain, rain and more rain (we’ve had one day of snow in the last two winters combined!) and according to the weather report snow is currently falling in Ottawa.

This is when I always start doing the arithmetic in my head – flying to Ontario would cost how much, and I would have to take how many days off work and I have what other commitments this summer?

Some years, the math goes well, but unfortunately this year it does not. I am flying to Ontario in May for my best friend’s bachelorette party and the budget for a second plane ticket just doesn’t exist.

I hope for those of you who are closer, the mental math works out better and you are able to spend a week of your summer making fantastic memories and fast friends. As always, I will look forward to everyone’s pictures and stories of camp so I can pretend I am there.

So while the weather is dreary, join me in daydreaming about marshmallows over a campfire and morning dip in the lake!
